This study examines the perceptions of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) actors regarding the conformity of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) with sharia economic principles in Southeast Aceh Regency. The increasing adoption of QRIS as a digital payment instrument has provided MSME actors with greater convenience, efficiency, and accessibility in conducting business transactions. However, its implementation also raises questions regarding its compatibility with Islamic economic principles, particularly concerning the avoidance of riba, gharar, maysir, and other prohibited elements. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach to explore MSME actors’ understanding, experiences, and perceptions of QRIS from a sharia economic perspective. Data were obtained through interviews and observations involving MSME actors who use QRIS in their business activities. The findings indicate that most MSME actors perceive QRIS as a practical, secure, and efficient payment system and generally consider its use compatible with sharia principles. Nevertheless, their understanding of the underlying sharia aspects remains relatively limited, particularly regarding transaction mechanisms, merchant fees, and the role of payment service providers. The study highlights the importance of strengthening sharia financial literacy among MSME actors and providing clearer information regarding the sharia compliance of digital payment systems. This effort is expected to increase public confidence and encourage more inclusive and responsible adoption of digital payment technology within the framework of Islamic economics.
